Snowshoes are specialized gear attached to your boots that allow you to move comfortably and quickly over snowy or icy terrain, and they are used primarily for winter hiking and mountaineering.
This private 4-hour excursion for you and your group offers beautiful snowy landscapes, forests, and frozen rivers in a pristine natural environment where peace and silence reign. Take the opportunity to reach places few people get to see, all under the safe supervision of our professional local guides (certified High and Mid-Mountain Sports Technicians).
The route takes us from the outskirts of the Astún Ski Resort to the Ibón de Escalar ( ibón is the local term in the Aragonese Pyrenees for a glacial mountain lake). A gentle ascent through the Escalar Ravine, ideal for getting used to the snowshoes, leads us to this spectacular high-mountain lake which is often frozen in winter.
Occasionally, snow conditions may require us to alter the route. In any case, we always select highly attractive trails with panoramic views of the surroundings. Throughout the tour, we will make several stops to rest, enjoy, and admire these landscapes.
The activity is suitable for active families and regular hikers (children ages 8 and up). No prior experience is required, and the physical demand is medium-low.
