Ready to conquer the highest peak on the Iberian Peninsula? Leave the asphalt behind and get ready for an unforgettable ascent inside the National Park, taking you right to the summit of the majestic Mulhacén.
It’s not just a spectacular hike; it’s the epic feeling of standing at the highest point of mainland Spain.
We will meet in the village of Capileira, a jewel of Granada's Alpujarra region. From there, we will take a shuttle transfer up to Alto del Chorrillo at an altitude of 2,700 meters, skipping the less interesting part of the trail.
The Ascent: This is a moderate-difficulty route with no technical challenges, but it does require good physical fitness due to the elevation gain and altitude.
The Reward: Extraordinary landscapes featuring mountain peaks, glacial lakes, and the Mediterranean Sea on the horizon—every meter hiked will make you feel like it was totally worth it. We will take our time to rest, celebrate, and admire these truly unmatched surroundings. From the summit, you will enjoy a 360-degree view stretching from the peaks of Sierra Nevada all the way to the coast.
In Summer (June 15 – September 15): To start the hike, we must use a round-trip shuttle bus service from Capileira, which is not included in the price (direct payment of €15 per person to the transport company). This reduces the route to about 12 kilometers and around 6–7 hours of round-trip hiking time, with an elevation gain of 780 meters.
Rest of the Year (September 16 – June 14): We will meet the guide in Capileira and follow them in our own car to the starting point of the hike. In this case, the distance increases to 20 km and takes about 8–10 hours (round trip), with an elevation gain of 1,350 meters. When there is snow, using a helmet, crampons, and an ice axe is mandatory (you can rent them during the booking process for €20 in total, paid directly to the guide).
This route is suitable for hikers with a moderate level of fitness. If you are used to walking, this challenge is for you! We depart in small groups with a maximum of 12 people.
