Did you know Fuerteventura hides an oasis worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster? Step into the Barranco de las Peñitas, a landscape of ancient rock formations so surreal that Marvel chose it as a filming location for "The Eternals." This trek invites you to discover the island’s green heart—a sanctuary of palm groves and legends that stands in stunning contrast to the surrounding desert.
We begin in the charming village of Vega de Río Palmas, following a trail that winds through lush vegetation and otherworldly geology until we reach the iconic Las Peñitas chapel. The adventure continues westward as the terrain shifts into "Far West" scenery, eventually leading us to the fishing village of Ajuy. Here, the deep blue Atlantic crashes against the famous sea caves and black volcanic beaches—a Natural Monument we will explore on foot before enjoying a well-deserved picnic by the shore.
This 9-kilometer linear route of medium-low difficulty takes about 5 to 6 hours in total including transfers and picnic with an elevation change of +150m and -400m mostly downhill over rocky ground.
